Soft, medium even pile throughout the rug. The rug isn't a perfect rectagle which is common in many village rugs. The fringe on the ends and selvedge on the sides are intact. This is a beautiful piece of Iranian art!
 
Rug pad NOT included, however, you totally need a rug pad to protect your rug from added wear and tear as well as preventing falls. We recommend a RUGPADUSA pad which can be found here on Amazon.
